The man's friend refused to buy reasoning out that he never hit any jackpot.
It was luck by chance for a Maryland man who won a $30,000 (Dh100,000 approx) jackpot from a scratch-off lottery ticket his friend refused to buy.
The 23-year-old winner told Maryland Lottery officials that he encouraged his friend and a coworker to buy a $3 Skeeter's-Ball scratch-off ticket while visiting the 7-Eleven store in Eldersburg. But the man's friend refused to buy reasoning out that he never hit any jackpot.
"He told me he didn't like Skee-Ball because he never hit on it. Then, he said, 'You should play it if you think it is a winner.' I took his advice and now I'm a winner," the winner was quoted as saying in UPI.
Speaking about his plans to use the prize money, the winner said he will buy a new car and a gaming computer. "It's really a funny story. I wouldn't consider myself a Lottery player, so this really shouldn't have happened to me at all," the man said, adding he plans to make Christmas extra special for his mother. "I can't wait to see the look on her face this Christmas," he said.
